Apartment Security Systems and Techniques
Articles and books about home security tend to focus on individual homes, but many of us live in apartment buildings or condominiums. Is “apartment security” basically the same as “home security”, or are there other aspects to be considered? First, we should consider whether it is the management of the apartment block or the condominium that is responsible for security, or whether it is the individual owners. Then we need to think about the types of measures individual apartment owners can take to increase the security of their properties. The purpose of this article is to look at the different aspects to be taken into account by apartment owners when considering the security of their home.
In most cases the management of the condominium or apartment block will be responsible for what might be called “external” security. Basically this means the perimeter of the building, the main entrance, the garden, the common spaces, etc. Most condominium managements take this very seriously, because it makes their property a more attractive place to live. But what about the security of each of the individual apartments or condo units? In almost all cases, it will be the apartment owners who will be responsible for maintaining the security of their individual apartment or unit.
